Canadian Lakes has one of only a few castles in the United States. The Castle was built in 1971 by Canadian Lakes founder Donald Bollman. The Castle sits atop one of the highest points in eastern Mecosta County. Its expansive concrete deck offers a spectacular view beginning with the 8th green and 9th tee of the Highlands Golf Course. From there the view extends across a large park area encompassing more clubhouses, tennis courts, playground, etc. Then your eye will fall on the beautiful Lake of the Clouds and beyond that the Main Lake. The Castle (10,000 sq. ft. main floor, 5000 sq. ft. mezzanine) is used for many community activities and events. There is a stage used for community theater and musical performances. The Corporation’s annual meeting, along with other large audience meetings are held here. The Canadian Lakes Association holds many of its events and parties here. The main floor is ADA accessible. The Castle can be rented by Canadian Lakes members for parties, wedding receptions, etc.
